Attach the tip size you need to your Leathos puncher and work as usual. After enough projects the edge starts to dull. You’ll feel it, because the same hole suddenly takes more presses than it used to. That’s when you reach for the sharpener. Run the file along the inside edge of the tip in smooth, even strokes for about a minute, covering the whole edge rather than grinding one spot. Put the tip back on the puncher and it cuts like new again.

-Which tips does the sharpener work on?
All six sizes in this kit. It also works on tips from other tools, as long as the opening is wide enough. The sharpener is 0.9mm thick, so any tip that can take that can be sharpened with it.
-How often do the tips need sharpening?
It depends on how much you cut and how thick your leather is. Most people get through plenty of projects before they notice a difference. When a tip starts needing more presses than it used to, give it a minute with the sharpener and it’s back to normal.
-Is sharpening hard to get right?
Not at all. The only thing to keep in mind is not to grind too long in one spot. Run the file evenly along the whole edge for about a minute and the tip will be sharp again. The sharpener is thin, but it won’t break under normal use. If too much pressure bends it slightly, you can straighten it back out.
-Do the tips fit other punchers?
No. The tips are made for the Leathos Hole Puncher, and because of the tool’s design they’re compatible with Leathos only. That’s what keeps the fit tight and the cut clean.
Sharpened all six of mine in about ten minutes and they cut like the day they arrived. Wish I’d had this from the start.
