Trace the part or the old gasket onto a sheet of gasket paper. Cut the small holes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold. Lay the sheet on a cutting mat, never on the part. Screw on the tip that matches the hole, set it on the mark and press straight down. The Spring-Spin-Cut mechanism does the rest: the spring spins the cutter as you press, slicing a clean round hole instead of crushing one. Then cut the outline with your knife or shears.

-Which gasket holes will it cut?
The tips run from 1.5mm to 4mm, so it covers the small holes on a gasket: screw holes on carburettor, cover and small-engine gaskets, and the small passage and jet holes a knife tears. Bolt holes and the big centre opening are not this tool's job. Cut those the way you do now.
-Will it cut gasket paper?
Yes. It cuts gasket paper and card cleanly. Put the sheet on a cutting mat or a scrap of board, never on the part, so the cutting edge has something to bite against.
-How is this different from a hollow punch and a hammer?
A hollow punch needs a mallet, a block of end-grain wood and a second hand to hold it on the mark. This tool cuts by pressing: a rotating cutting edge slices around the circle as it goes down, so you get a clean edge with no blows, no block and nothing shifting under the strike.
-What is it not for?
It is not for metal-cored sheet, and not for the gaskets between the head and the block or on the exhaust, which should be factory parts. It is a tool for the paper and card gaskets you cut at the bench.

How Does the Spring Spin Cut Mechanism Works
A knife twisted into gasket paper leaves a ragged hole that keeps tearing. Tapping with a ball-peen hammer marks the hole more often than it cuts it, and on an aluminium cover it can mark the part too. A hollow punch cuts clean, but it needs a mallet, a block and a second hand.
The Spring-Spin-Cut mechanism replaces all three. Set the tip on the mark and press down with one hand: the cutter spins as it descends and slices the hole clean, with no crushing and no blows. Then it springs back up, ready for the next hole.
Six Sizes, From Jet Passages to Screw Holes
Includes 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm cutters. The small tips are for the passage and jet holes a knife cannot get round. The big ones are screw-hole size on carburettor, cover and small-engine gaskets.
Bolt holes are bigger than this tool goes, so cut those as you do now.
